Gyan in Sanskrit means intelligence. Regular practice of Gyan Mudra increases the intelligence of the practitioner and hence it is also called Mudra of Knowledge in English. This mudra is practiced while meditating and doing pranayama to get more benefits from yoga.
How to do Gyan Mudra
- First of all, on a clean and flat place, lay a rug / mat or yoga mat.
- Now sit in Sukhasana, Padmasana or Vajrasana.
- We can also do Gyanmudra standing in Tadasana or by sitting on a scabbard. To get more benefits of Gyan Mudra, it should be done by sitting in Sukhasana or Padmasana.
- Place your hands on the knees and the palms of the hands should be facing the sky.
- Now the index finger (index finger) is to touch the tip of the thumb (thumb) by turning it circular.
- The other three fingers are to be kept straight.
- This knowledge mudra has to be done with both hands.
- Close your eyes and breathe regularly.
- You can also pronounce together if you want. Taking out all the thoughts from the mind, focus the mind only on Om.
- Doing at least 30 minutes to 45 minutes in a day gives benefits. If you don’t get that much time at once, you can practice it in 3 pieces of 10-10 minutes each.
- In this way, we can practice this mudra at any time, but it is more fruitful to practice this mudra in the morning and in the evening.
